Castle Rock, a town of about 85,000, is the Douglas County seat, so a lot of the steady work here is public sector. That includes the Town of Castle Rock, the Douglas County government complex off I-25 and Plum Creek Parkway, and the Douglas County School District, which is headquartered on Wilcox Street and is one of Colorado's largest districts. Healthcare is a big employer too, led by AdventHealth Castle Rock on Meadows Boulevard. Beyond that it's largely a retail and service town: the Outlets at Castle Rock, the Promenade, and downtown Wilcox keep hiring year-round for retail, restaurants, bars, and small local businesses, with professional services mixed in. Castle Rock isn't the county's corporate-employer center (that's more Lone Tree), but its central I-25 location and government base make for a steady local job market and an easy commute to the rest of the metro.
