Accessibility Statement
Last updated: August 18, 2026
DougCo Social is a local news and events site for Douglas County, Colorado. We want it to be usable by everyone in the community, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, or captions.
The standard we aim for
We work toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. That means, among other things: text alternatives for images, a visible keyboard focus indicator, the ability to skip repeated navigation, page structure marked up with real headings and landmarks, and colour that is never the only way information is conveyed.
Where we know we fall short
We publish a large amount of community-submitted material — event listings, business photos, reader tips — and some of it arrives without the description or contrast we would write ourselves. Some embedded third-party content (maps, ticketing widgets, social embeds) is outside our control. We fix what we find and what you tell us about.
Tell us when something does not work
If any part of this site is difficult or impossible for you to use, email [email protected]. Tell us the page and what happened, and we will get back to you. If you need information from a page you cannot access, ask and we will send it in another format.
Privacy and tracking
You can opt out of advertising cookies at any time, and we honour the Global Privacy Control browser signal automatically. See our Privacy Policy.
