Responsibilities
- Creates practice and game schedules, coordinating facilities and teams.
- Forms teams when necessary. Places players considering skill levels and special requests to ensure the best experience for all participants.
- Recruits and oversees volunteer coaches and umpires.
- Ensures league standings are maintained.
- Inspects fields and facilities used for athletic activities.
- Determines and informs coaches of necessary schedule or field changes, including postponement or cancellation of games or practices due to weather or other conditions.
- Administers First Aid to injured players, officials or spectators.
- Processes paperwork for code violations, First Aid rendered, and weekly league scores.
- Ensures safety of spectators and players.
- Enforces league rules and participant code of conduct. Makes determination regarding suspension and/or ejection of players or coaches when necessary.
- Interfaces between Town and participants, spectators, and facility owners.
- Provides direction to League Supervisors and Scorekeepers.
Requirements
- CPR and First Aid Certifications are required (which can be obtained at the Recreation Center) or ability to attain within 30 days of hire
- Valid driver's license
- Knowledge of principals and practices of parks and recreation administration and programming.
- Skill in supervising and instructing others.
- Skill in interacting with public/program participants.
- Skill in performing CPR and first aid.
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
