About the Role
HEI Civil is seeking an experienced Estimator with civil construction experience to join their team in Castle Rock, CO. The role works under the direction of the Estimator Division Manager and must be able to manage multiple projects at the same time.
Responsibilities
- Prepare commercial estimates per bid procedure.
- Prepare subcontractor evaluations.
- Attend weekly construction meetings.
- Review all plans and specifications, permit set of drawings, and Owner requirements with the Estimator.
- Prepare bid proposal, including the cost breakdown, clarifications, scope, and exclusions.
- Prepare drawing list.
- Process and distribute all F.I.s for estimating and job addendums.
- Prepare subcontract takeoffs.
- Respond to all subcontractor inquiries in relation to bids.
- Assist with pricing of drawings and revisions.
- Assist in the pricing of owner and subcontract change orders including written narrative and drawing overlay.
- Provide value engineering services.
- Prepare subcontractor comparison sheets for evaluation.
- Prepare estimate turnovers to project managers.
- Assist the estimator in generating the scope of work for all trades.
- Prepare Owner / PM bid books.
- Prepare post-bid buyouts.
- Prepare call list and follow up for coverage.
- Maintain positive client/subcontractor relationships.
- Prepare project budgets.
- Make job purchasing decisions.
Requirements
- Computer skills in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and HCSS.
- Effective negotiation skills.
- Extreme attention to detail.
- Superior customer service skills required.
- Must be able to effectively communicate and manage subcontractors.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with underground utilities, earthwork, roadway reconstruction, and civil construction required.
- Education: Minimum high school diploma/GED required.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience with Civil and/or Heavy Highway Construction.
Compensation
- Base pay: $75K+/yr (based on experience)
- Salary exempt, full-time
