Moving to Castle Rock

The trails come up first, almost every time. The Town of Castle Rock manages 104 miles of them, and you can walk out of most neighborhoods onto one. Ridgeline Open Space connects The Meadows and Red Hawk to Miller Park by a pedestrian overpass, the East Plum Creek Trail runs 8.6 paved miles from Castle View High School down to Montaine, and in July 2026 the Town opened Lost Canyon Ranch, 716 acres with 15 miles of hiking trail, the largest open space purchase in its history. I hiked every open trail there the week it opened.

Then it is the schools (Douglas County School District, with an assigned neighborhood school for every address and open enrollment on top), the downtown (a real one, with a library, a museum, Festival Park and a couple of blocks of Wilcox and Perry Street that fill up on a Saturday), and the fact that a hospital, an outlet mall, a rec center and a 300-acre park with a 200-step staircase are all inside town limits.

And the growth is real, which is a good thing if you are arriving: the Census counted 73,158 people in 2020 and estimates 83,815 in 2025, and the restaurants and shops have kept pace. In the last year and a half we have covered new sushi, a reopened brewhouse turned proper kitchen, new owners at the downtown candy shop and a hospital system building an ER in Crystal Valley. You are not moving to a town that is finished.
