SPED Teacher Severe Needs

About the Role
As a collaborative member of the Special Education team, this person will be responsible for teaching, evaluating and implementing programming for severe significant needs students utilizing inclusion practices whenever possible; have working knowledge of effective behavior techniques and Autism instruction and intervention; consult with Special and Regular Education teams; daily collects and tracks student academic and behavior data; performs continuous management of caseload, i.e. IEP documents and meetings, parent communication, behavior plans, trains and supervises paraprofessional staff in one on one instruction of students; meets professional obligations as determined by district and site.
Responsibilities
- Documents health related services in Designated Medicaid documentation system for the DCSD School Medicaid Reimbursement Program
- As a teacher you would be expected to plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential
- You are challenged with new teaching methods and educational tools in an ever changing and strategic environment
- You would plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences and establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
- You would utilize technology and integrate the use of technology to provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities, instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment, observe, evaluate, encourage and provide feedback on student's performance and development
- You would maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development preparing required reports on students and activities
- Teachers are responsible for managing student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures, maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school, and applying appropriate disciplinary measures where necessary
- Our teachers are integral parts of their school and the school community, performing certain duties including but not limited to student support, counseling students with academic problems and supporting certain extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs and student organizations, participating in department and school meetings, and parent meetings
Requirements
- Colorado READ Act designation, which can be acquired via the options described at https://www.cde.state.co.us/coloradoliteracy - Colorado Department of Education
- Special Education Generalist License - Colorado Department of Education
- Bachelor's Degree: Special Education (Required)
Compensation
- Salary range: $62,150 - $131,345/yr (career range, hire rate not posted)
