4th of July Across Douglas County — America 250 / Colorado 150

2026 is a doubly-significant Independence Day — the 250th birthday of the United States (America 250) and the 150th anniversary of Colorado statehood (Colorado 150). Four cities run their own celebrations:

Update (July 2, 2026): All 2026 fireworks cancelled.

Douglas County entered Stage 2 fire restrictions on July 2, 2026, banning all fireworks — personal and professional — countywide. Every July 4 professional fireworks show is off: Castle Rock (Festival Park), Highlands Ranch (Highland Heritage), and Lone Tree (Prairie Sky) are cancelled, and Parker's show is postponed to Veterans Day, November 11. Castle Pines and Larkspur are not holding shows. Parades, the Castle Rock F-16 flyover, races, and daytime festivities are not affected. Source: Douglas County.

  • Castle Rock — July 4, 5:30–10 p.m. Festival Park, 300 Second Street. Live music, food trucks, face painting, Pie Bake-Off contest. Free. The fireworks display is cancelled for 2026 under the county's Stage 2 fire restrictions (declared July 2); the daytime and evening festivities are otherwise unaffected. Full Town 250–150 calendar: crgov.com/3911/250---150-Special-Events.
  • Castle Rock Rock-It Run — July 4 morning. 5K, half marathon, free Kids 1K + concert at Douglas County Fairgrounds. See Races section above.
  • Castle Rock Colorado Day Festival — Saturday August 1 at Philip S. Miller Park (free). 9 a.m. cornhole tournament (Millhouse lower lawn). 10 a.m. festival begins. 10:30 a.m. Colorado Day Fun Run — 1-mile kid-friendly OR 5K trail run from the Amphitheater (free, registration required, open until July 10). 2 p.m. festival ends. Live music from Off Ramp, LoCo Country, and Chris Daniels & The Kings. Musical chairs, beard contest, bubble/foam party (drought-dependent), face painting, silent disco, root beer float station, food trucks. Then the Fitz and The Tantrums Summer Concert Series headliner caps the night at the same amphitheater — a full double-header day.
  • Highlands Ranch — Star-Spangled Birthday Bash, Thursday July 2, 6–9 p.m. Highland Heritage Park. Then on Saturday, July 4: the HRCA Independence Day 5K at 7:30 a.m. (Town Center, $55 / $30 ages 2–12 — family + stroller + dog-friendly), and the Fourth of July Parade 8:45–10 a.m. along Highlands Ranch Parkway between Hepburn and Ridgeline. The Douglas County fireworks show at Highland Heritage Regional Park is cancelled for 2026 under Stage 2 fire restrictions (declared July 2); the parade and daytime events go on as planned.
  • Lone Tree — July 4, all day. 9 a.m. Family Fun Ride & Stroll (bikes/scooters/wagons, start at Lone Tree Elementary) · 10 a.m.–1 p.m. Family Fun Park (Prairie Sky Park) · 6 p.m. Party in the Park at Prairie Sky with live music. The 9:30 p.m. fireworks are cancelled for 2026 under Stage 2 fire restrictions (declared July 2); the daytime and evening events go on as planned. Source: cityoflonetree.com/city-events/independence-day/.
  • Parker — Parker Independence Day Fireworks, July 4, ~9:30 p.m. Town of Parker launches a fireworks display from just north of Salisbury Park, tied to America 250 / Colorado 150 / Parker 45 milestone celebrations. The July 4 fireworks are postponed to Veterans Day, November 11, 2026, under the county's Stage 2 fire restrictions (declared July 2). When they run, it is fireworks-only remote viewing — no in-person Stars and Stripes Celebration — visible from up to two miles away depending on conditions. Town-recommended viewing/parking: Salisbury Park (up to 300 free, first-come, first-served parking spaces), Bar CCC Park, McCabe Meadows, Stroh Soccer Field, Tallman Meadow Park, Auburn Hills Community Park, and the Cherry Creek Trail between Bar CCC Park and Stroh Soccer Field. Free. That same morning, the Run to Change Lives Rock-It Run 5K, half marathon, and free Kids 1K race at the Douglas County Fairgrounds is the largest July 4th race in DougCo.
