By Connor Tien, DougCo Social · Updated July 2026

Thursday, July 16, from 5 to 8 p.m. Downtown Castle Rock stays open late, more than 20 shops pour a drink and put out something to eat, and you walk the block with a passport collecting stamps. It's free, and it's one of the better excuses to be downtown on a summer evening.

How the passport crawl works

There is no sign-up and no ticket. You just show up.

  1. 1. Grab a passport at any participating shop once the event starts. You do not have to start anywhere in particular.
  2. 2. Walk downtown and collect stamps. Each shop stamps your passport, pours a complimentary sip, and puts out something to snack on. Most run a special just for the night.
  3. 3. Hit 8 or more shops, then turn the completed passport in before the night is over.
  4. 4. Win a gift card. Winners are drawn from the completed passports.

💡 Eight stamps, not six. The threshold moves with the size of the event — the more shops sign on, the more stops it takes to qualify. The December 2025 edition was set at six. This one is set at eight.

Is it actually worth going?

Here's the evidence. The winter edition packed downtown even though it had just snowed and was freezing out — people strolling shop to shop in the cold all evening. About 150 people turned in a completed passport, and that only counts the ones who bothered with the card.

Now picture that on a July evening with nothing to fight but the heat. It's free, it takes about three hours if you do the whole thing, and it works for a girls' night, a date night, or just wandering to see what's open.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the Castle Rock Summer Sip & Stroll?+

Thursday, July 16, 2026, from 5 to 8 p.m. in downtown Castle Rock. It is free to attend, and more than 20 downtown businesses are taking part.

How does the passport work?+

Grab a Sip & Stroll passport at any participating shop once the event starts — there is no sign-up and no specific place you have to begin. Get a stamp at each stop you visit. Hit 8 or more businesses, turn the completed passport in before the night is over, and you are entered to win a gift card to one of the participating shops.

How many stamps do I need?+

Eight. The summer edition is set at 8 or more businesses. The threshold moves with the size of the event — the more shops sign on, the more stops it takes to qualify — so it is not always the same number. The December 2025 edition was set at six.

How much does it cost?+

Nothing. The event is free, the passport is free, and the sips and snacks at each stop are complimentary. You only spend money if you decide to buy something.

What can you win?+

Several $20 gift cards to the participating downtown shops, drawn from the completed passports.

Where do I park?+

Downtown Castle Rock has free public parking, including the Encore garage on Wilcox and street parking throughout downtown. The whole event runs on foot along the downtown blocks, so park once and walk. Get there closer to 5 p.m. for the easier spots.

Who runs it?+

Mod Mountain Boutique, together with Downtown Castle Rock. Mod Mountain started it in December 2024 as a holiday shopping event — the idea being that downtown shops would stay open late for one night and make holiday shopping feel like a stroll with friends instead of a chore. It worked, and it has since grown into a downtown-wide event with a summer edition of its own.

Where do I find the shop lineup?+

On the Facebook event. The Sip & Stroll is a downtown merchants event, and it is not listed on the Downtown Castle Rock website — so do not go looking for it there. The final list of participating shops and their specials gets posted in the days before.

Sources: Date, time, passport rules, and prize confirmed with the organizers and against the official Facebook event. Attendance figures from our own reporting in the Castle Rock Crew newsletter. The shop lineup and specials are announced close to the date — check the Facebook event before you go.
