Things to Do in Lone Tree

Lone Tree Recreation Center

55,000 square feet: a leisure pool with a lazy river, an 88-foot body and tube slide, a zero-depth kids' area, three 25-yard lap lanes and a hot tub; two basketball courts, three pickleball courts, two racquetball courts, a 12-laps-per-mile indoor track, a weight room, a fitness and dance studio, an arts room with a kiln and a performing arts stage. Weekdays 5:30am to 9pm, weekends 7am to 4pm. Resident day pass $7 adult, $19 household.

Cook Creek Pool

The outdoor one: an eight-lane, 25-yard lap pool with a diving board (3.5 to 12.5 feet deep), a separate zero-depth leisure pool with a play structure, water basketball and a 160-foot slide, shade structures, picnic tables and concessions. The 2026 season ran May 23 to August 9 daily, then weekends through Labor Day, September 7. Same resident rates as the Rec Center; a Splash Pass covers all four South Suburban outdoor pools.

The Lone Tree Hub

The old library branch (it was Douglas County Libraries' Lone Tree location until 2015) is now South Suburban's community center: an esports lounge, arts and enrichment classes, science, music and multimedia camps, bridge and other active-adult programs, a free public lounge and rentable rooms. Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm, 720-245-2601.

Bluffs Regional Park and Trail

The County's bluff-top loop: 2.7 miles of soft-surface trail with 350 feet of climbing (some short stretches over 8 percent grade), and the overlook spurs add another mile. Hikers, bikes, strollers, horses and leashed dogs all share it, one hour before sunrise to one hour after sunset, from a 60-car lot with horse-trailer parking, a shelter, restrooms and a bike repair station. It links to the Highlands Ranch trails, the East/West Regional Trail and South Suburban's system.

Lone Tree Golf Club & Hotel

An 18-hole, par-72 Arnold Palmer design with five sets of tees, a grass-tee driving range, two putting greens and a short-game area; the Lone Tree Grill in the clubhouse is open to the public seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the hotel upstairs has boutique suites. Course 8:30am to dark, range 8am to dark. 303-799-9940.

Prairie Sky Park

The City's description: a large community hub with trails, open play areas and access to regional connections. It is where the City puts its biggest day of the year, Independence Day, and where the Willow Creek Trail lands. Dogs on a six-foot leash; the City notes it is not an off-leash park.

Lone Tree Tennis Center and Park

South Suburban's tennis center next to the golf clubhouse: six courts, four of them lighted, with classes, leagues, private lessons and tournaments through the district catalog, plus picnic pavilions in the park. 303-794-5838, extension 22.

The neighborhood parks

South Suburban's list for Lone Tree runs Altair, Belvedere, Carriage Club Estates, Centennial Ridge, Fairways at Lone Tree, LaQuinta, Lincoln Commons, Lonesome Pine, Maximus Trail, Prairie Sky, Promenade, Prominence Point Open Space, Sweetwater (13170 Mercury Drive, where the City stages its Backyard Beats concerts) and Wildcat Ridge. Reservations and permits go through the district's parks map.

High Note Regional Park (2027)

The City and South Suburban broke ground on Phase 1 on April 29, 2026: two lit synthetic fields, a playground, a play water feature, a dog park with big-dog and small-dog areas, a food truck area, a small stage, community seating, the Happy Canyon Trail connection and a 200-seat beer garden the City says Lone Tree Brewing Company is expected to run. $31 million, split among South Suburban, the City, Douglas County, the Southeast Public Improvement Metro District and Great Outdoors Colorado; anticipated to open in 2027.

The trails

The City's parks page lists the East/West Regional Trail at 27 miles one way and the Willow Creek Trail as the way to Cook Creek Park or Prairie Sky Park, with the Bluffs loop connecting into the Highlands Ranch and South Suburban systems. Six-foot leash everywhere.

The Groove at Lyric

The cafe, restaurant and bar at the center of Shea's Lyric neighborhood, with a full liquor license, house-made focaccia sandwiches, scratch pizza and a turf patio under string lights. The breakfast burrito with chipotle aioli was our first order and it held up. Friday nights bring free live music. Our story from the opening has the menu and hours.

Monk & Mongoose, RidgeGate

The coffee shop we keep going back to on the RidgeGate side, with a second location at High Note that the City picked for its October Coffee with a Cop. Latte art, pastries and a breakfast burrito that made our county-wide burrito guide.

Wag-N-Romp at Cook Creek Pool

The City hands the outdoor pool to the dogs the weekend after it closes to people: swimming in two sessions (10am to noon and noon to 2pm), agility courses, pet vendors and grooming. Tickets required.

The lazy river and the slides

The Rec Center's leisure pool has a lazy river, spray features, a kids' slide and an 88-foot tube slide indoors all year; Cook Creek adds the 160-foot outdoor slide and a zero-depth play structure in summer. Both run South Suburban swim lessons and day camps.

Indoor days
