Authorization Counselor

About the Role

The Authorization Counselor monitors and verifies prior authorization requirements for patients based on their insurance providers. They communicate updates regarding authorization status and ensure timely patient care coordination.

Responsibilities

• Monitor work queues for unauthorized referrals.
• Verify prior authorization requirements based on clinical information.
• Submit clinical documentation with prior authorization requests.
• Communicate authorization status with healthcare teams and patients.
• Provide patient cost estimates based on treatment protocols.
• Address patient billing questions and concerns.

Requirements

• Medical terminology knowledge
• Minimum of 1 year healthcare experience
• Knowledge of ICD 10 and CPT coding
• Good customer service skills
• Computer skills and willingness to use technology
