Summer of Fun · Douglas County 2026

4th of July in Douglas County 2026

Every parade, race, and 4th of July event across Castle Rock, Highlands Ranch, Parker, Lone Tree, Castle Pines, and Sterling Ranch. 2026 is the America 250 + Colorado 150 year. Note: all July 4 fireworks are cancelled this year — see the alert below.

Fireworks update: all July 4 shows are cancelled

As of July 2, 2026, all of Douglas County is under Stage 2 fire restrictions, which ban all fireworks — personal and professional. Every July 4 professional fireworks show in the county has been cancelled (Castle Rock, Lone Tree, Sterling Ranch, and the County-hosted Highlands Ranch show at Highland Heritage Regional Park). Parker's fireworks are postponed to Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11. Personal fireworks are banned countywide. Parades, races, the Castle Rock F-16 flyover, and daytime festivities are still on — just without the fireworks. Read the Douglas County announcement →

How the county's Fourth actually went

With every fireworks show off under the Stage 2 fire ban, the Fourth in Douglas County ran on everything else — and it still drew crowds. In Castle Rock, the morning Rock-It Run pulled a record 1,500 runners, and around 10:47 a.m. two Colorado Air National Guard F-16s buzzed low over the Rock and downtown — you could hear them coming.

Downtown Castle Rock was still busy Saturday night — live music, kids everywhere, and a long line at the Glacier ice cream truck out in Festival Park, all under a bright, clear sky over the Rock. Across the county it was the same story: parades, races, concerts, and festivals carried the day. The fireworks were the only thing missing — and Parker's are just moved to Veterans Day (Nov 11).

What's different in 2026

  • All fireworks are banned countywide — every show is off. As of July 2, 2026, all of Douglas County (unincorporated plus Castle Rock, Lone Tree, Parker, Castle Pines, and Larkspur) is under Stage 2 fire restrictions, which prohibit all fireworks — personal and professional. Every July 4 professional show has been cancelled. Confirm current status before the 4th: douglasco.gov and crgov.com/Fireworks (Castle Rock).
  • The Highlands Ranch fireworks are cancelled. HRCA had already cancelled its traditional show, and the Douglas County-hosted replacement at Highland Heritage Regional Park is now cancelled too under Stage 2. HRCA's free Star-Spangled Birthday Bash concert (Thursday, July 2, at the same park) and the July 4 5K + Parade still run.
  • Parker's fireworks are postponed to Nov 11. There was never an in-person Stars and Stripes Celebration this year — just remote-viewing fireworks — and that display is now moved to Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11. The fireworks stands are closed.
  • America 250 + Colorado 150. Castle Rock's 4th is the centerpiece of the town's official 250/150 programming. HR is doing a Colorado 150 festival Aug 1 + a drone show Aug 22 at Civic Green. Sterling Ranch is doing a USA 250 / CO 150 aerial photo on the 4th. Parker is folding it all into a 250/150/45 framing (Parker also turns 45 in 2026, as does Highlands Ranch).
  • Lone Tree headliner is Sophia Scott. Colorado-bred singer/songwriter, taking the stage at Prairie Sky Park at 8 PM. The Party in the Park is still on; only the fireworks that followed it are cancelled.
