Building Inspector I II III

About the Role

This position involves technical inspection of plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and structural work to ensure compliance with applicable codes. The successful candidate will contribute to community development and safety through effective communication with contractors and the public.

Responsibilities

• Reviews permits, plans, and specifications; confers with customers to assure conformance with adopted codes.
• Conducts inspections in the areas of plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and structural.
• Performs re-inspections to determine if trade deficiencies have been corrected.
• Explains and applies building codes to assist the public during construction.
• Investigates complaints of code violations and enforces corrective actions.
• Maintains accurate reports and records of building inspections.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent with two years of relevant experience in construction or building trades.
• Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Colorado Driver's License.
• ICC Certification in two areas of certification within one year of hire for Inspector I, four for Inspector II, and all six for Inspector III.
