About the Role
Under general supervision, this position mandates direct and constant pool surveillance, with responsibilities including emergency response to drowning and enforcing safety rules. Lifeguards ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all swimming patrons.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct, constant and uninterrupted swimming pool and patron surveillance to the assigned zone of coverage.
- Recognizes, responds to and provides necessary emergency care within limits of training to persons in distress.
- Enforces facility rules, regulations and the patron code of conduct.
- Participates in ongoing training and reports all incidents to the Manager on Duty.
- Completes daily safety inspections of pool facilities to ensure a comfortable environment.
Requirements
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Ability to swim and complete a variety of in-water maneuvers.
- Possession of or ability to obtain a lifeguarding certification within thirty days of hire.
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
