Mechanic (Light Duty)

About the Role

This is journeyman level work primarily focusing on vehicle and equipment maintenance. The role includes various diagnostic, repair, and preventive maintenance tasks to ensure the efficiency and safety of county-operated machinery and vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Repairs automotive and heavy construction equipment including engines and electrical systems.
• Inspects defective equipment and performs diagnostic tests.
• Dismantles and repairs internal combustion engines and other machinery.
• Performs preventive maintenance functions and safety inspections.
• Handles service calls in the field, often outside normal hours.
• Provides mechanical support during snow removal operations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Three years of automotive/diesel mechanical experience, five years preferred.
• Valid Colorado Driver License required upon hire.
• Ability to obtain Class (A) Commercial Driver License after hire.
• Successful completion of a criminal background check required.
