About the Role

The Senior Medical Interpreter provides support by mentoring and training less experienced interpreters in effective techniques, ethics, and best practices. They ensure accurate and culturally responsive communication in clinical and non-clinical settings.

Responsibilities

• Provides interpretation services for patients, families, providers, and staff in various settings.
• Translates medical and non-medical documents, ensuring adherence to established standards.
• Mentors and coaches less experienced interpreters, modeling best practices.
• Contributes to onboarding and evaluation of new interpreters.
• Partners with leadership to enhance training curricula and workflows.
• Maintains proficiency in medical terminology across specialties.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED
• Three years of translation and/or interpretation experience with fluency in English and Spanish or another language.
• Certification as a Medical Interpreter is required.
• Certified as a Bridging the Gap (BTG) Medical Interpreter or equivalent.
