General Counsel

About the Role

This role involves providing direct legal counsel and representation for the Board of Education and senior staff. The General Counsel manages the legal department and ensures compliance with federal and state laws relevant to education.

Responsibilities

• Manage and support the legal review of contracts and intergovernmental agreements for the School District.
• Maintain knowledge of school district operations.
• Support the development and implementation of legal training for staff.
• Manage staff in the Legal Department, ensuring competency and professionalism.
• Oversee legal services related to discipline, employment, and education laws.
• Advise the Board on legality of actions and policies.

Requirements

• At least ten years professional experience in law, particularly in education or public sector.
• Experience in conducting litigation before courts and administrative agencies.
• Significant experience advising education sector clients on school law.
• Licensure as an attorney in Colorado.
• Bachelor's Degree and Juris Doctorate required.
