Larkspur is a small rural community on the south end of Douglas County, best known for the Colorado Renaissance Festival held each summer. The festival draws tens of thousands of visitors over eight weekends in June and July to a themed medieval village, with jousting, live entertainment, craft vendors, and costumed characters. Outside of the Renaissance Festival season, Larkspur's events calendar is thin — but the festival alone makes it one of the most-visited spots in Douglas County during summer.

The small community has access to outdoor recreation at the nearby Schubart Trailhead and the Colorado Trail system. For a full calendar of events, the neighboring cities of Castle Rock (15 minutes north) and Monument (15 minutes south) have more consistent weekly programming.
The Colorado Renaissance Festival grounds at Larkspur are about 15 minutes south of Castle Rock via I-25. The Larkspur exit (Exit 172) leads directly to the festival site. Parking is available on-site. Most visitors coming from the Denver metro pass through Castle Rock on the way.
