Moving to Parker, Colorado
Parker New Resident Checklist: The First 90 Days
The paperwork in the order the deadlines fall (license in 30 days, plates in 90), the accounts to open, and the local things that make it feel like home. Addresses and phone numbers from the agencies themselves.

Moving is mostly boxes and then mostly forms. This is the forms half, done in the order Colorado wants it, with every office, hour and number pulled from the agency's own site on September 29, 2026. Parker has a wrinkle the other towns do not: your water district and your driver license office both depend on where in town you land, so those two are spelled out. The fun half (the ice trail, the market, the first brewery) is at the end, because you earned it.

Before You Move
The things that are easier from the old address.
Local tip: Grab the gate code, the trash day, the water district and the name of the HOA or metro district from the seller or landlord while you still have their attention. Those four questions save a month of guessing.
First Week: The State and County Paperwork
Colorado's deadlines start the day you establish residency.
The Colorado DMV counts you as a resident once you own or operate a business here, are employed here, or have lived here for 90 consecutive days. From then: transfer your driver license within 30 days, and register your vehicle within 90. The license is a state driver license office job, appointment required, and Parker has one of those. The plates and title are a county motor vehicle office job, and the county does not have a Parker office, so that is a drive to Lone Tree, Highlands Ranch or Castle Rock.

FAQ
The Colorado DMV says to transfer your license within 30 days of establishing residency, and to register your vehicle within 90 days. You are a resident once you own or operate a business here, are employed here, or have lived here 90 consecutive days. Driver license offices require an appointment; county motor vehicle offices handle plates and titles.
Two different offices. The state driver license office in Parker is at 17924 Cottonwood Drive, appointment required, for your license. Plates and titles are a Douglas County Motor Vehicle job, and the county has no Parker office; the closest are Lone Tree (9350 Heritage Hills Circle), Highlands Ranch (2223 Wildcat Reserve Parkway, Unit G1) and Castle Rock (301 Wilcox Street), all Monday through Friday 8am to 4:30pm for walk-ins, 303-660-7440.
Yes, if it is old enough. Douglas County is inside Colorado's emissions program area. AirCare Colorado says a vehicle brought in from another state or from outside the program area must pass an emissions inspection before it can be registered here, within 90 days of establishing residency. Vehicles six model years old or newer are exempt at first; the test is $35 every two years for 1982 and newer gasoline vehicles.
Online at GoVoteColorado.gov, or at any Colorado driver license office when you get your license. Colorado mails your ballot for each election to the mailing address on your registration. The Douglas County Elections office is at 125 Stephanie Place, Castle Rock, 303-660-7444, weekdays 8am to 5pm.
Water: it depends on the subdivision. Parker Water and Sanitation District (303-841-4627) covers most of town and says water transfers with the title, so your title company handles it; Cottonwood Water (303-792-9509), Stonegate Village Metro District (303-858-9909), Pinery Water (303-841-2797), Compark and Meridian (303-790-0345) serve other neighborhoods. Electricity: CORE Electric Cooperative, (800) 332-9540. Natural gas: Xcel Energy. Trash: a private hauler you choose; the Town names HBS Trash Services.
