The fireworks Castle Rock lost to the fire ban in July are coming back. The Town of Castle Rock announced on Oct. 6, 2026, that its Independence Day fireworks show has been rescheduled for Veterans Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11, weather and fire restrictions permitting.
The show was cancelled outright in July, when Douglas County and the Town moved into Stage 2 fire restrictions two days before the Fourth. Here's how every Douglas County show was called off that week. Restrictions have since been lifted as conditions improved in September.
The details
- When: Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2026, at 7 p.m.
- Length: a 20- to 22-minute high-flying show. A three-shot salute signals the start.
- Launch site: Miller's Landing, off Plum Creek Parkway just east of Philip S. Miller Park.
- Cost: it's a remote-viewing show, so there's no venue or ticket. You watch from wherever you can see it.
- Updates: the Town will post them at CRgov.com/Fireworks as the date gets closer.
Where to watch
The Town says the show will be visible from many locations in Castle Rock and recommends:
- Downtown
- Metzler Ranch Community Park
- Philip S. Miller Park
- Areas of the Red Hawk neighborhood
- Rock Park
Parking: if you're parking in a neighborhood or a business lot, keep driveways clear and follow posted parking restrictions. Parking along major streets and roadways is not allowed.
No personal fireworks that night
The Town is clear that the rescheduled show doesn't open a second window for backyard fireworks. Personal fireworks are prohibited in Castle Rock on Nov. 11. Town rules still allow permissible personal fireworks only between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. on July 4, and only when no fire restrictions are in place. To report illegal fireworks while they're happening, call the Castle Rock Police Department's dispatch center at 303-663-6100.
Separately, Town Council is considering an ordinance that would ban fireworks sales during Stage 1 fire restrictions, not just Stage 2, after this summer's confusion.
Parker's show is the same night
Parker didn't cancel its July 4 show; it postponed it to Veterans Day back in July, so Nov. 11 is a two-show night in Douglas County. Per the Town of Parker's Veterans Day page:
- When: Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2026, starts at 7 p.m. (weather permitting), the same start time as Castle Rock's.
- Launch site: just northeast of Salisbury Park.
- Where to watch: the Town says the show may be viewable from up to two miles away and recommends Bar CCC Park, McCabe Meadows, Stroh Soccer Field, Tallman Meadow Park and the Cherry Creek Trail.
- Parking: only 300 paved spaces at Salisbury Park, first come, first served. The big grass lots used on July 4 in past years won't be open, and there's no parking along Parker Road, Hess Road or Mainstreet.
- Weather calls: delays or cancellations go out on the Town's Facebook and X accounts.
It's on our calendar as the Parker Veterans Day fireworks show, and our Parker 4th of July guide has the background on the postponement.
What about Lone Tree and Highlands Ranch?
As of Oct. 6, Castle Rock and Parker are the only Douglas County shows with a new date.
- Lone Tree: when it cancelled its July 4 show, the City said it "will explore opportunities to reschedule the professional fireworks display later this year when conditions safely allow." No date has been announced.
- Highlands Ranch (the county's Highland Heritage Regional Park show): cancelled under Stage 2, and Douglas County hasn't announced a new date.
We'll add any other rescheduled show here if one is announced.
