About the Role

Under general supervision, this position plans, instructs and supervises recreational programs as a CARA (Colorado Amateur Recreation Association) swim coach. It implements practice schedules, coaches swimmers, fosters sportsmanship and teamwork, and helps execute swim meets and seasonal activities. This is a safety-sensitive position subject to pre-employment and random drug testing.

Responsibilities

  • Implement lesson plans and practice schedules and coach swim program participants
  • Support inclusive programming by adapting activities for participants with disabilities
  • Foster an inclusive, supportive environment and model sportsmanship and teamwork
  • Assist in planning and executing events such as swim meets and practices
  • Assess participant skill levels, monitor progress and provide feedback
  • Respond to emergencies, provide first aid, and complete incident reports

Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • One year of relevant teaching, coaching or recreational programming experience preferred
  • CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
  • Current Swim Instruction certification required
  • Completion of concussion recognition training within 90 days of hire
