About the Role
The Principal Planner will manage a variety of planning projects and act in a leadership capacity for the Planning Division. This role emphasizes collaboration, problem-solving, and effective communication to fulfill the City’s vision and community needs.
Responsibilities
- Model the core values of the organization.
- Manage, train, and coach direct reports.
- Evaluate and administer complex land use development projects.
- Prepare staff reports and project packets within deadlines.
- Effectively present information to various stakeholders.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with community partners.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Planning or related field and 5 years of experience in planning.
- Master’s degree in Planning or Community Development is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and verbal skills.
- Knowledge of local government planning principles and practices.
- Ability to manage project stakeholders and deliverables.
- Excellent writing skills for creating technical documents.
