Principal Planner - Internal Only

About the Role

The Principal Planner will manage a variety of planning projects and act in a leadership capacity for the Planning Division. This role emphasizes collaboration, problem-solving, and effective communication to fulfill the City’s vision and community needs.

Responsibilities

• Model the core values of the organization.
• Manage, train, and coach direct reports.
• Evaluate and administer complex land use development projects.
• Prepare staff reports and project packets within deadlines.
• Effectively present information to various stakeholders.
• Establish and maintain positive working relationships with community partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Planning or related field and 5 years of experience in planning.
• Master’s degree in Planning or Community Development is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, oral, and verbal skills.
• Knowledge of local government planning principles and practices.
• Ability to manage project stakeholders and deliverables.
• Excellent writing skills for creating technical documents.
