About the Role

Lead Instructor at the Douglas County Outdoor Education Center (Stone Canyon) provides a fun and safe environment for students and clients, teaching activity groups of 12 to 15 students in an outdoor classroom across science, outdoor education, and leadership. Leads are trained on all class modules and help train and mentor new seasonal Program Instructors. The role supports residential outdoor education, day retreats, and team-building programs.

Responsibilities

  • Be at least 21 years old
  • Possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or related experience
  • Have 2-3 seasons of OE, summer camp or related experience
  • CPR and First Aid Certified (can be certified as part of staff training)
  • Pass a criminal background check
  • Ability to work with and supervise school age students in an outdoor classroom environment & enjoy working with young people!

Requirements

  • Certifications: CPR - Red Cross, CPR - Red Cross - Red Cross, First Aid - American Heart Association, First Aid - American Heart Association - American Heart Association
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree: Education, Bachelor's Degree: Recreation
