Spring Valley Schoolhouse Ribbon-Cutting and Open House

A one-room schoolhouse that anchored community life in the Spring Valley area is opening its doors again. Douglas County hosts a ribbon-cutting and open house from 10am to 1pm on Saturday, September 12. Visitors can explore the restored building and hear how it served generations of students while doubling as a center of community life. Docents from the Larkspur Historical Society will be on site sharing the history of the property and the Spring Valley area beginning in 1865. The schoolhouse dates to the 1800s, became a private residence in the 1970s, and recent restoration work returned it to its original one-room character. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Free and open to the public.
