Rock Park is open. One service road inside it isn't.
The Town of Castle Rock closed the dirt access road at the top of Rock Park for maintenance addressing drainage issues, from Tuesday, Oct. 21 through Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2026. The Town posted the alert to its Alert Center on Oct. 20, 2026.
What's actually closed
The closure covers the road only — from the green gate to the point where the road dead-ends into the walking path that circles around the Rock. All trails to the base of the Rock remain open. The Town's alert doesn't mention any closure of the pavilion, parking area, or the rest of the park.
The basics
Rock Park sits at 1470 Front St., open daily from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. Parking is off Front Street. The main loop trail to the base of the Rock is about 1.5 miles, unpaved, and rated difficult, with roughly 370 feet of climbing — none of that changes during this closure.
See our listing for Rock Park → — and if you haven't seen it yet, the Town's new Big Drive cattle sculpture is right at the park entrance.
What's next
The Town's posted window runs through Oct. 27. Scheduled reopening dates for maintenance work can slide if conditions require more time, so check the Town's Trail Conditions and Closures page before a visit right around that date.
