The Heroes Hall Foundation has a new donor. Douglas County announced Sept. 16 that Miller United Real Estate presented the foundation with a $20,000 check toward the planned veterans center at the Douglas County Fairgrounds in Castle Rock.
The donation
"Through its Community Investment Initiative, Miller United Real Estate provides financial support to deserving organizations in the communities where we live and work," said Miller United Principal Dan Sheldon, per the county's announcement. "We are pleased to announce our partnership with the Heroes Hall Foundation. We selected the Heroes Hall Foundation as the recipient of a contribution because we strongly believe in the Foundation's vision."
Heroes Hall Foundation Board Chair Mike McNairy, Lt Col USAF (Ret.), thanked the company directly: "We are grateful to the Miller United Real Estate group for choosing to support Heroes Hall with this generous donation. Miller United has a long tradition of investing in community partners to enhance robust neighborhoods and local charitable organizations."
Douglas County Commissioner George Teal also weighed in: "This gift will help bring Heroes Hall to life as a lasting place where we can honor those who serve our country by giving them a place to gather. Support like this demonstrates our community's deep appreciation for our heroes and moves us one important step closer to making this vision a reality."
What Heroes Hall will be
Heroes Hall, to be built at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, will be a central location for veterans to receive services and gather with one another. Per the county, it consolidates the support functions of its founding organizations — the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), the Douglas County Veterans Monument Foundation, and the Douglas County Veterans Service Office — into one place where veterans can get additional assistance and support.
