Castle Rock Is Building a New Fire Station in the Northeast

By Connor Tien, DougCo Social

Town Council approved a $22 million contract for Fire Station 156, a new fire station and centralized logistics center in northeast Castle Rock. Crews broke ground on the project April 16, 2026, according to project contractor Owen-Ames-Kimball.

The Details

Location: Castle Oaks Drive, south of Pleasant View Drive
Size: 26,000 square feet
Cost: $22 million
Contractor: O-A-K Colorado
Construction: Broke ground April 16, 2026; expected to open in 2027 (CBS Colorado)

The facility will include a centralized logistics hub for fleet and equipment maintenance, in addition to standard fire station operations.

Why It Matters

If you live in northeast Castle Rock, this means faster response times. Station 156 was identified in the 2021 Fire Department Master Plan as a priority to keep up with the town's growth.

The new station will:

  • Reduce emergency response times in the northeast
  • Improve unit availability across the department
  • Centralize fleet and equipment maintenance

As Castle Rock continues to expand east and north, the existing stations have been stretched thinner. This addition helps maintain the response times residents expect.
