Lockheed Martin is expanding at its existing Douglas County facilities, a move the County says will bring up to 450 new jobs over four years and about 190,000 square feet of additional space. Gov. Jared Polis announced the expansion Thursday, Oct. 8, 2026, at the annual Site Selection Conference in Denver. Lockheed Martin is separately expanding facilities in Jefferson County as part of the same announcement.
What the county is offering
Douglas County will rebate its portion of Lockheed Martin's Business Personal Property Taxes. The company will keep paying standard real property taxes. The County says the incentive will show up in the proposed 2027 Budget.
Douglas County's own framing of the trade-off: each $1 of direct wages from a primary job like these supports roughly $1.50 in total economic activity, by the County's general estimate. The County did not give a project-specific wage or investment figure.
What county and company officials said
Kate Watts, vice president of Lockheed Martin Space Strategy & Business Development: "Expansion like this does not happen in isolation."
Commissioner Kevin Van Winkle: "we are proud to deliver high-paying aerospace careers that ensure Douglas County remains a premier destination."
Commissioner George Teal: "This investment brings high-quality jobs to Douglas County."
Ellie Reynolds, president and CEO of the Douglas County Economic Development Corporation: "Lockheed Martin's continued investment is a strong example of that strategy in action."
Commissioner Abe Laydon also took part in the announcement.
