National Trails Day Guided Hikes

Celebrate National Trails Day with five guided hikes at Gateway Mesa Open Space in Castle Rock on Saturday, June 6. Legacy Trail (rated difficult — 1.6 miles through a narrow slot canyon with rock steps): 9 a.m. geology-themed hike, plus 10 a.m. hike. Chuck's Loop (rated easy — flat 1.6 miles): 9 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. hikes. Each hike caps at 15 participants, recommended for ages 7+ — register at CRgov.com/TrailsDay. From 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., everyone's invited to drop by the main trailhead (4678 E. State Highway 86) for self-guided activities, educational booths, and giveaways from the Town and the Castle Rock Parks and Trails Foundation.
