About

The Colorado Renaissance Festival is a summer-long Renaissance faire on a wooded 60-acre site in Larkspur, running weekends from mid-June through the first weekend of August. Now in its 49th season, the festival stages full-contact jousting, dozens of live stage shows, a permanent artisan marketplace of 200+ handcraft shoppes (leatherwork, chainmail, glasswork, jewelry, pottery), and themed weekends built around costume, pirates, and Highland/Celtic culture.

What To Expect:

🎭 Dozens of live stage shows and street performers
🛍️ 200+ artisan shoppes selling handcrafted goods

📍 Local Insights

🎟️ Buy Tickets Ahead: Themed weekends and the final weekend of the season regularly sell out; the festival has implemented ticket limits in recent years.

🅿️ Free Parking, Long Walk-In: Parking is free but the lot is large — arrive early on busy weekends.

🍺 Cash Still Helps: Some smaller artisan booths move faster with cash on hand even though most now take cards.

👗 Costuming Welcome: Many guests dress in period or fantasy costume; it's part of the culture, not required.

🏇 What We Saw: We spent a day here this past summer and caught the joust in front of the royal viewing stand, a fire-breathing performer working the crowd at the Celestial Stage, and bagpipe-and-drum street musicians playing near the marketplace — the whole grounds stay in character from the front gate on.
