Douglas County Libraries broke ground Aug. 26, 2026 on a new 18,000-square-foot branch in Sterling Ranch.
The building sits near the intersection of W. Titan Road and Taylor River Circle in Sterling Ranch, bordered to the south by Piney River Avenue. Construction takes about a year, and DCL lists a projected completion date of late 2027.
What's Being Built
Planned amenities include:
- Library collections
- Interactive children's spaces and a children's garden
- An event hall
- Two conference rooms
- Five reservable study rooms
- A terrace and plaza
- 84 on-site parking spaces
- A drive-thru book return
How It's Funded
The $21.7 million project budget covers site development, building construction, and furniture, fixtures and equipment. It's funded through Douglas County Libraries' capital savings fund and a land donation from Sterling Ranch.
Douglas County Libraries says the new branch fits its broader facilities plan. In its own words: "A new library in Sterling Ranch is also in line with commitments we have made in our facilities plan, to provide customers with premium libraries that meet community needs."
What This Means for Roxborough
Douglas County Libraries says the current library in Roxborough "does not meet the needs of its growing population and community," and that the timeline may run longer "if library services are transitioned from the current Roxborough location to the new one." DCL hasn't posted a closure date for Roxborough; check dcl.org for updates as the Sterling Ranch building nears completion.
