The Town of Parker has identified a Dual Quadrant Roadway design as its preliminary preferred alternative for the Parker Road and Mainstreet intersection, following its second public open house Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2026, at The Schoolhouse, 19650 E. Mainstreet.

The Town describes the intersection as playing "an important role in how people travel through our community and access Downtown Parker." The Parker Road and Mainstreet Conceptual Design Project is evaluating improvements to traffic operations and safety, roadway access, walking and biking connections, and access to O'Brien Park. The Town is also weighing effects on surrounding properties, redevelopment, economic vitality, and Downtown Parker's character.

Where the project stands

The project began in late 2025. Since then, the Town and its consultant, Kimley-Horn, have updated traffic, survey and environmental information and gathered input from the community and stakeholders. They've also analyzed and refined alternatives drawn from the 2019 Parker Road Corridor Plan, narrowing them based on safety, traffic operations, multimodal connectivity, property and park impacts, and opportunities for Downtown.

At the Oct. 27 open house, the Town presented the Dual Quadrant Roadway design as the preliminary preferred alternative, identified "following extensive technical analysis and community engagement," per the project's Let's Talk Parker page. Materials from the event are posted online for anyone who couldn't attend.

Construction is not funded. The project page says the Town will seek funding sources for the next design phases and construction once a preferred alternative is finalized, and "these next steps are currently unfunded, and no completion timeline has been established." The page estimates construction "could be 10 or more years away."

The intersection sits at the center of Downtown Parker's ongoing growth, and feedback from this open house will help shape what that corridor looks like going forward.
