About the Role

This position involves the routine screening of GYN and non-GYN specimens, requiring critical thinking skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The cytotechnologist serves as a consultant to laboratory staff and other clinical staff as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine screening of GYN and non-GYN specimens, reports results and documents daily workload records.
  • Processes specimens for analysis according to specifications related to the type of specimen.
  • Assists with the collection and processing of fine needle aspiration specimens.
  • Performs quality control assessment, equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Serves as a consultant to laboratory staff and other clinical staff as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field and graduate of an accredited Cytotechnologist program.
  • Certification as a Cytotechnologist (CT) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
  • State licensure if required by law.
