Courageous Conversations: Well-being of Our Youth

The Board of Douglas County Commissioners hosts a 90-minute Live Town Hall on the mental health challenges facing Douglas County youth and young adults, aimed at parents, caregivers, educators, coaches, healthcare providers and anyone else a young person might turn to.

A panel of local experts covers what county data show, how to recognise when a young person's behaviour may be cause for concern, how to prepare for a mental health emergency and how to connect with help. Topics include cyberbullying and social media, academic and social pressure, isolation, access to medications, and the barriers young people face when asking for help.

The session also introduces new youth crisis stabilization services planned next to the emergency department at Children's Hospital Colorado's South Campus in Highlands Ranch, designed to offer roughly 48 to 72 hours of short-term stabilization.
