About
Connor’s Visit (September 2026): We went to the September 23 A Night with the Coroner, “Deadly Crime to Prime-time,” with retired FBI agent Jonny Grusing and ABC 20/20’s Lindsey Schwartz. It’s $20 cash at the door, and all of it goes to the Second Wind Fund, which works on teen mental health and suicide prevention; the series has written Second Wind a $13,500 check. Rich and Donna Forester, among the series’ earliest helpers, were still taking cash and stamping arms at the front door. The room was full of rows of chairs facing the stage and screen, and Rory’s Diner, upstairs and under the same owner, ran a limited menu for the night: cheese curds, a chicken Cobb, a club sandwich, a diner burger, fish and chips, onion rings and a buttermilk fried chicken sandwich ($4 to $15.25).
About the series: Former Douglas County Coroner Lora Thomas started A Night with the Coroner in 2011 to explain death investigation to the public. It runs about once a month here, doors at 5pm for dinner and drinks, presentation at 7pm, first come, first served seating. Next up: Wednesday, October 21 and Wednesday, December 9.
