About the Role

Under general supervision, this position supports Human Resources and Risk Management with administrative, operational, and project-based work, contributing to daily functions, program development, and system implementation efforts while gaining practical experience in public sector operations..

Responsibilities

  • Observes and shadows Human Resources and Risk Management staff; participates in meetings, trainings, and project discussions to gain exposure to departmental operations, workflows, and decision-making processes.
  • Rotates through functional areas, as assigned, to support business activities and broaden organizational understanding.
  • Provides customer service by responding to routine inquiries and directing requests to appropriate staff.
  • Assists with recruitment and onboarding activities, including scheduling, document preparation, and candidate tracking.
  • Supports data entry, recordkeeping, and file management within human resources and risk management systems.
  • Assists with legacy system migration efforts, including data validation, file organization, and testing support.
  • Supports program development and special projects by conducting research, compiling information, and preparing materials.
  • Assists with coordination of meetings, trainings, and safety-related activities, including scheduling and logistics.
  • Supports risk management functions by tracking incidents, maintaining documentation, and assisting with reporting.
  • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information in accordance with applicable policies and regulations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Requires current enrollment in an accredited college or university with coursework in human resources, risk management, public administration, business administration, or a related field and a basic proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar software.
  • Knowledge of basic office practices.
