Consumer Access Specialist

About the Role

The Consumer Access Specialist ensures patients have the logistical information they need, collects payments, and manages communications across departments to improve the patient experience. The role also handles Medicare compliance reviews and payment plan arrangements.

Responsibilities

• Perform Medicare compliance reviews and issue Advance Beneficiary Notices as needed.
• Create accurate estimates for patient financial responsibility and collect payments or establish payment plans.
• Contact insurance companies to verify eligibility and benefits and obtain pre-authorizations.
• Register patients for all services, ensuring accuracy and minimizing duplicate medical records.
• Provide excellent customer service and document all patient and insurance conversations.
• Perform cashiering functions, including collections and cash reconciliation.

Requirements

• High School Graduation or equivalent required (Associate's Degree preferred)
• 1+ years customer service experience preferred
• 1+ year relevant healthcare experience preferred
• Understanding of HIPAA privacy rules and working knowledge of Microsoft programs
